WHEN IT HELPS
Common uses
- Track the same lift as your body weight changes.
- Express a measured maximum as a multiple of body weight.
IN PRACTICE
Example
A 100 kg single at 80 kg body weight gives 1.25× body weight. A 100 kg set of 5 reps estimates a 116.67 kg 1RM and a 1.46× ratio.
GOOD TO KNOW
Does this ratio rank my strength?
Relative strength = load ÷ body weight. Estimated 1RM = load × (1 + reps ÷ 30) for 2–10 reps. Estimates assume a set close to failure. The simple ratio is not a competition score or a universal strength ranking.
