STEP BY STEP

How to use well pump size calculator

  1. Select metric or US units and enter flow and pumping water level.
  2. Enter outlet elevation, pressure, head losses and assumed efficiencies.
  3. Read TDH and power, then check the duty point against the pump curve.

WHEN IT HELPS

Common uses

  • Estimate the duty point for a submersible well pump.
  • Compare pressure, lift and efficiency assumptions for water supply.

IN PRACTICE

Example

At 3 m³/h, a pumping water level of 30 m, outlet height of 5 m, pressure of 3 bar and losses of 5 m give about 70.59 m TDH and 0.96 kW shaft power at 60% pump efficiency.

GOOD TO KNOW

Should I enter the full well depth?

No. Enter the water level while pumping at the required flow. The result is a preliminary duty-point estimate; actual pump selection depends on its curve, well yield and installation conditions.

Uses clean water at 1,000 kg/m³ and g = 9.80665 m/s². Hydraulic power = density × g × flow × head. Shaft power divides by pump efficiency; electrical input also divides by motor efficiency. No automatic motor size or pump model is selected.
