How to create a resume online for free

Open the Toolnoza Resume Builder, choose one of eight designs and an accent color, then enter your contact details, target job title and professional profile. Add work experience, education, skills and languages. Review the live preview and download a PDF or editable Word file.

No registration or payment is required. Download before leaving: refreshing or closing the editor clears your entries. Keep a Word copy for future updates.

What should a resume include?

Include your name, professional email, phone, city and country, and a relevant LinkedIn or portfolio link. Follow with a short profile, experience, education and relevant skills. Check every link and contact detail.

List your most recent experience first. Each entry should identify your job title, employer, dates and useful achievements. For a student or recent graduate, lead with education, projects or internships when they provide the strongest evidence.

Write a professional summary with evidence

Use two or three focused sentences to explain your role, relevant experience and strengths for the vacancy. Replace broad claims such as “motivated professional” with specific experience.

Example: “Production engineer with five years of experience coordinating operations and maintenance teams. Skilled in production planning, KPI reporting and continuous improvement. Seeking a production supervisor role.” Adapt this example to your actual background.

Turn responsibilities into achievement bullet points

Use an action, the scope of your work and a verified outcome. “Prepared weekly production plans for three teams and reduced missed handovers from eight to three per month” communicates more than “responsible for planning.”

These numbers are illustrative. Use only results you can support; never invent percentages. If you lack metrics, describe a completed project, a process you improved, the equipment you operated or the team you supported. Put one point per line in the experience details field.

Choose a layout and check ATS readability

The Simple, Modern, Nordic, Impact, Horizon and Editorial use one column; Executive and Studio use two. A one-column layout is a practical starting point when you want a straightforward reading order. Use standard section headings and readable text.

ATS means applicant tracking system. No template guarantees compatibility with every recruitment system. Match relevant terminology from the vacancy only when it accurately describes your experience. Avoid keyword stuffing and check any application preview or parsed fields.

Tailor the resume to the job description

Identify the vacancy’s main responsibilities, required qualifications and tools. Bring matching experience into your profile, skills and first bullet points. Spell out unfamiliar abbreviations once and use the language requested by the employer.

For a first job, include relevant coursework, projects, internships or volunteering. Explain your contribution and outcome. Do not add unrelated content merely to fill the page.

PDF or Word: which resume format should you send?

Follow the employer’s requested file type. PDF uses the builder’s preview layout; Word remains editable and can have different line breaks or pagination. Open the exported file and check every page before submitting.

If the application accepts both, choose the version that displays and parses correctly in its upload preview. Keep the editable Word file as your working copy. Use a clear filename such as Firstname-Lastname-Resume.pdf.

How long should a resume be?

Choose the length that communicates relevant evidence clearly. A focused early-career resume may fit on one page; additional relevant experience may need two. Follow any employer instructions and remove repeated or outdated detail before shrinking text.

The editor does not shorten text automatically to force one page. Check page breaks, headings and the last lines of each section in both exported formats.

Resume checklist before applying

Check spelling, dates, email, phone, links and consistent job titles. Confirm that skills and achievements are accurate, recent experience is easy to find and the target role is clear.

Inspect all pages at a readable zoom, confirm text can be selected in the PDF, and verify the application’s file-size limit. A matching cover letter can explain your motivation without repeating the entire resume.

Frequently asked questions

Is the resume builder free? Yes: Toolnoza offers PDF and Word downloads without payment or signup. Can I edit later? Save a Word copy; the editor itself does not save your entries after you leave.

Is a resume the same as a CV? The terms depend on the country and role. An academic CV may require publications and other detailed sections beyond this editor. Can a resume guarantee an interview? No: selection depends on your qualifications, the vacancy and the employer.
