Annual salary to hourly formula
Hourly equivalent = annual salary ÷ (hours worked per week × paid weeks per year). Use the same currency throughout. The Toolnoza calculator also shows a monthly equivalent by dividing annual salary by 12.
Example using a 40-hour week
A salary of 52,000 per year over 40 hours a week and 52 paid weeks gives 52,000 ÷ (40 × 52) = 25 per hour. If you are paid for 50 weeks, the same salary and schedule gives 52,000 ÷ (40 × 50) = 26 per paid hour.
Choose realistic hours and paid weeks
Use contracted or typical hours, not automatically a 40-hour week. Enter paid weeks, accounting for unpaid leave or seasonal work when relevant. If you work variable hours, this is an average; divide actual annual pay by actual annual hours for a retrospective estimate.
Gross pay, take-home pay and benefits
Compare gross salary with gross hourly pay, or net with net. This simple conversion does not estimate income tax, social contributions, overtime, bonuses, paid leave value or benefits. Contract rules and local law determine those amounts.
