Select a PNG and set the JPEG quality. Transparent pixels are placed on white because JPG does not support transparency.
Example
A transparent logo converted to JPG gets a white background. Keep the PNG if you need transparency.
Limitations
JPEG does not support transparency. Transparent areas become white, and fine text or sharp graphics can look worse after conversion.
